W. B. Bancroft letter : Portland, [Or.] to John Rodgers : ALS, 1867 Sept. 23.

Inquiring about Rodger's "Geography" of the Pacific Coast. Asks if positive arrangements have been made with "Mr. McCormick" about publishing it, and into how many books Rodgers proposes dividing the subject. Notes that H. H. Bancroft & Co. take great interest in anything written by a resident of the Pacific Coast.

Internal evidence suggests that the recepient, John Rodgers, was a resident of Roseburg, Oregon. It appears, however, that the "Geography" was never published. An S.J. McCormick did published a directory of for Portland, Or. in 1866, and may be the McCormick referred to by Bancroft. From the description of W. B.
